Recently...

- One week down without JM and only two more to go until I'm headed his direction for Spring Break! Whoo Hoo!

I miss him, of course I miss him - but we're  both are so wrapped up into our jobs right now, we don't really have time to sit and dwell on it. It is what it is and we're both really happy in our professional lives right now. One day our professional and personal lives will finally coincide and we'll both be saying Hallelujah!

I'm really itching to go on some sort of Spring Vacation with him over the Easter holiday - I really hope that we'll be able to work something out!

- Something really exciting last Sunday - My BFF from TCU, Melissa got ENGAGED!!!!

How cute is she and her fiance' Mike? I just adore them!!!!
Something else that's really silly, but it makes me really happy is that her new last name will start with an "F" just like mine!!!! We always joke that if our kids end up going to school together they'll probably either be soul mates or bff's because alphabetically they would be stuck by each other in class, in the yearbook, during roll call, etc.

That is why we're best friends. We think about silly stuff like that! HAHA!
Melissa and I were roommates in college, we lived together in the sorority house for two years... a year and a half maybe?... something like that! I always tell JM that it's a good thing that Melissa is a girl, because if she was a guy - I would have left him a long time ago! HAHA!

We're so compatible! We like the same things, we have the same sense of style, we think the same things are funny, we think the same things are dumb.

We have the same views on love, friendship, faith, politics, etc. She tells me when I'm being stupid {if I ever talk to her about JM - she ALWAYS takes his side, and tells me to stop being a brat!} I tell her when she's being stupid {she tends to over think any and all situations!!}

We both love and treat our dogs like they're our children. Melissa even takes her to a Doggie Daycare during the day if she has to work late. I LOVE THIS!

We both can drop hundreds of dollars on a really fab dress, but it hurts to spend 6 dollars on lunch if there's something to eat at home. We both LIVE for the mystic tan. and bring up the Ross Mystic Tan episode of Friends anytime either one of us does it. and we laugh hysterically as if it's the first time we've talked about it.

There are a few differences: Melissa was a TCU Cheerleader during college, and I was always uber jealous of her!!!! :) I always wanted to put on her uniform while she was gone, but I just knew as soon as I got it on - she would walk through the door! HAHA!!

She's also SO smart. She's a certified CPA, and has a killer job - She literally works her rear off daily.

To sum it up - She's a GREAT friend, and she's going to be a STUNNING bride!!!!!! I'm beyond happy for her!!!

- Something else really fun is that I got my first real life paycheck yesterday!!!

I've never really had a real life - full time, salary and benefits type of job before. I've always been a part-time, hourly employee.

I might of had a few tears of joy when I checked my account - it was a big milestone for me!

And I'm so proud of myself! I can honestly say that I earned every single penny on that paycheck!

I really want to buy myself something special with some of the money, something that I can keep and think - "I bought this with my first paycheck" type of thing.

My very first job - I just turned 16 and I was a hostess at Bennigans. I remember with my very first paycheck ever - it was 73 dollars, I went and cashed it - then went straight to Target and bought my very first digital camera. I was so proud of myself. I bought it - with my own money. It was 100% mine.

I want to re-create that moment - but I can't decide what I should buy. I kind of want a kindle - but I never have any time to read anymore! I'll figure something out - I have no doubt about that!!

- I still love my job. I love it more days than others, but I wholeheartedly love my students.

I'm super paranoid that my classroom management stinks, that my lesson plans are awful, or that an observer might walk in at any moment and evaluate me as a teacher.

But I love my students. and they love me back. And most of my kids - that's what they need. They need someone to love them. They need that more than they need to know the elements on the periodic table.

Basically I'm striving to be the real life Tami Taylor. :)
